Loading A Dump Truck: 9 Important Steps To Follow

Carrying and dumping heavy loads of materials is made easier with the creation of dump trucks. Loading contents into a dump truck is done with the use of hydraulic loader tractors with a bucket. This tractor is operated with the help of hydraulic components called wet kits. To load a dump truck correctly, follow these easy steps:

Station the truck on level ground

Dump trucks must be stationed on level grounds. Once you find a suitable location, you should put the parking brakes on.

Inspect both the dump gate and the bed

After parking, inspect the dump truck if its bed is lowered completely. The chain and locks of the dump gate should also be double checked to make sure that they are locked and fastened securely.

Align the loader with the bucket parallel to the ground's angle

The loader has to be driven to the area where the materials to be loaded are found. Position the loader properly in which the bucket is parallel to the ground.

Operate the bucket after driving the loader forward

Keep the bucket in the direction of the ground and begin driving the loader near the materials. Step on the gas so that the loader will be able to dig into the debris you are about to load.

Load the bucket with materials

Pull the lever used to move the open part up so you can easily fill the bucket with your loading materials. You are to keep pulling and stop only when the bucket is filled with debris.

Pick up the bucket

Once filled with materials, pull the bucket upwards. Use the bucket-lifting lever to do this. Lift the bucket until the distance between its bottom and the ground is 3 feet.

Raise the bucket while driving the dump truck

Drive the loader towards the dump truck. The bucket has to be centered relative to the center of the dump truck's bed. Start raising the bucket while driving towards the dump truck. Before reaching the side of the dump truck, slow down and stop. Elevate the bucket above the dump truck bed's wall.

Begin putting the materials into the center of the bed correctly

When the bucket is positioned over the center line, stop the loader from rolling forward. Slowly dump the materials into the truck bed. Driving forward and backward will ensure you that the material is properly dumped at the center of the bed. Repeat this step until the truck bed has been filled.

Keep track of the number of bucket scoops made

It is important to keep a record of the number of bucket scoops made. You should also keep track of the weight of the dump truck's axles to make sure that they do not exceed the appropriate axle weight limit. Monitor the vehicle's gross weight in the same way.

You have to load a dump truck correctly if you want to transport and dump the contents safely.
